Privacy Policy for Codify: Code Editor & Compiler
Effective October 19, 2026
This Privacy Policy applies to the mobile app Codify: Code Editor & Compiler (Android package name com.vivekgowdas.LanguageSandBox), developed and published by Dev-V, the developer name shown on its Google Play listing. In this policy, "Codify" or "the app" means that app, and "we", "us" and "our" mean Dev-V. It explains what Codify collects, why, and what you can do about it. Codify is a code editor for your phone: you write code, run it in a live terminal, and can ask an AI assistant for help.
Who we are
- App: Codify: Code Editor & Compiler
- Developer: Dev-V (the developer responsible for the app and the data controller for the personal data described here)
- Package name: com.vivekgowdas.LanguageSandBox
- Contact: playdeveloperv@gmail.com
The short version
- Your projects and AI chats are saved on your device.
- Code you run is sent to our server, runs in an isolated sandbox with no internet access, and is deleted when the run ends.
- Code and messages you send to the AI assistant go to AI model providers so they can answer. We don't store the content of these requests.
- We don't show ads, don't sell your data, and don't track you across other apps or websites.
What we collect and why
Your account
Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication. Firebase stores your account: a user ID, your email address, and, if you sign in with Google or Apple, the name and profile photo that provider shares. Our own servers use only your user ID, to apply your plan and usage limits. We don't store your email address on our servers.
Your projects and chats
Projects, files and AI chat history are stored in the app on your device. They aren't uploaded to us, except for the parts described below when you run code or use AI.
Running code
When you tap Run, the project's files and anything you type into the terminal are sent to our server. Your program runs in a fresh, isolated sandbox with no internet access, and its output is streamed back to you. The sandbox and everything in it, including your code and its output, is deleted when the run ends.
We keep a short record of each run (your user ID, the time, the language, how long it ran, and how it ended) but not your code or its output. We use it to apply daily limits and keep the service reliable, and we delete it after 90 days.
AI features
When you use the AI assistant (chat, explain, analyze, fix, write, convert or comment), your message and the context you include, such as the open file, the code you selected, or recent terminal output, are sent through our server to AI model providers so they can generate the answer. The providers process this data to respond, under the terms of their API services. Our servers record which model answered and how many tokens it used, for limits and cost, but not the content. Please don't send passwords, keys or other secrets to the AI assistant.
Subscriptions
Codify Pro is sold through Google Play or the App Store, which handle payment. We never see your card details. We use RevenueCat to check whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives your Codify user ID and purchase records from the store.
Free AI trial (anti-abuse)
Free accounts get 3 AI messages in total. So that the trial can't be restarted by deleting and re-creating an account, we store a one-way, keyed hash of your sign-in identity (the account ID from Google or Apple, and your verified email address) together with the number of free AI messages used. The hash can't be turned back into your email or account ID. It's used only for this, and it's kept after you delete your account.
Usage counters and technical logs
We count runs and AI messages per day and per month to apply plan limits. Counters are deleted after 13 months. Like most online services, our servers also keep technical logs (IP address, time, request type and status) for security and troubleshooting. These are kept for a limited time and then deleted automatically.
Who processes data for us
- Google Firebase: sign-in and accounts.
- RevenueCat: subscription status.
- Google Play / Apple App Store: purchases and payments.
- AI model providers, reached through our own AI gateway: answers from the AI assistant.
- OVHcloud: hosting for our servers.
We share data with these services only to provide Codify. We don't sell or rent personal data.
Security
All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). Code runs in sandboxes that are isolated from our servers and from each other, with no network access and strict limits on time, memory and processes.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account in the app under Settings → Delete account. This deletes your Firebase account and the usage counters and run records tied to it on our servers. The only thing we keep is the anti-abuse hash and free-trial count described above. Projects and chats stored on your device are removed when you uninstall the app. You can also email us to ask for deletion; see Delete your account. An active subscription is billed by the store, so cancel it there as well.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, or to object to how we use it. Email us and we'll help within 30 days.
Children
Codify isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them. If you think a child has given us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll let you know in the app.
